Ruth D. Bruns, 70, of South Bend, IN, passed away at noon, Monday, September 24, 2001, in Hospice House. Mrs. Bruns was born on December 12, 1930, in Alpena, MI. She had lived in South Bend since 1969. She retired in 1995 as a nurse from St. Joseph Medical Center. She then worked for Memorial Hospital and Memorial Home Care.

On December 5, 1953, in Alpena, MI, as Ruth D. Timm, she married William F. Bruns, who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Rosemarie Apple of Buchanan, MI, Kathlyn (Tom) Pallatin of Troutman, NC; her grandson, Patrick "Eddie" Apple of South Bend, IN; her sisters, Martha Beck of Spruce, MI, and Rosalie (Clair) Klein of Alpena, MI; and her brothers, Norman (Shirley) Timm of Alpena, MI, and Jerry (Jackie) Timm of Hubbard Lake, MI. Her son, Michael Bruns, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2001, in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Mrs. Bruns was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Arlington Bridge C lub.
