Miss Hildegarde M. Bruggner
Miss Hildegarde M. Bruggner, 84, of Cardinal Health Care Center, formerly of 718 E. Colfax, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday in the nursing home after a brief illness. She was formerly employed with the South Bend Retail Credit Bureau and was employed with Bruggners Book Store for 30 years. Born on Nov. 5, 1898, in South Bend, she was a lifetime are resident. Surviving are two nieces, Miss Peggy Carberry of South Bend and Mrs. Mary Lou Mittler of Fort Wayne; and three nephews, Theodore N. Teschner of Denver, Colo., and James N. and Paul C. Bruggner both of Fort Wayne. Two brothers, former South Bend Mayor Frank Bruggner and Louis Bruggner, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Paul F. Doyle, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Hickey Funeral Home, where a rosary was to be led by the Circle of Mercy at 4:30 p.m. today. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. She was a member of the church, Circle of Mercy, Altar and Rosary Society, Harvest House, Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary, and served as president of the Business and Professional Womens Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society or to any other charity.
