MISHAWAKA -- Maxine Brown, 68, of
Mishawaka, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2007, in
Hospice House of South Bend surrounded by family. Maxine was born
on May 4, 1939, in Trout Creek, MI, to the late Herbert A. and
Violet (Rolston) Brown. She is also preceded in death by
one sister, Janet Weatherford; and two brothers, Daniel
and Herbert Brown.
Maxine married Kennet R. Carter, and
later remarried M. Wayne Hilts. Maxine is survived by two
daughters, Laurie (Kevin) Tackman of Shipshewana, IN, and
Sandra Carter of South Bend; two sons, Kenneth R. (Tami) Carter
Jr. of Merrillville, IN, and Jerrold W. Hilts of Buchanan, MI;
nine grandchildren, Jennifer, William, Sean, Becky, Heather,
Debra, Megan, Sarah, and Alexander; and six great-grandchildren,
Johnathan, Jordan, Noah, Malachi, Skyla, and Dradric. She is also
survived by her sister, Mary (Robert) Clark of Niles, MI;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007, in the funeral home with Rev. David Henry officiating. Cremation will take place and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the National Autism Association, 1330 W.
