SOUTH BEND - John W. Brown, 63, residing in South Bend,
IN, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in his
home after a most courageous battle with cancer since 1997. He
was born on November 8, 1944, in Modesto, CA, to Rex A. and
Cathryn F. (Williams) Brown.
On January 13, 1966, in South Bend, he
married the former Charlene A. Raess, who survives. Mr.
Brown is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlene; two sons,
David Brown and his fiancée, Sheri of Ann Arbor, MI, and Anthony
Brown and his wife, Pamela of Granger, IN. Also surviving are
three grandchildren, Samantha Ann Brown, Mya Marie Brown and
Kayla Lynn Brown; and a brother, Rex Brown, and his wife, Vicky
of Niles, MI. A brother, James Brown, preceded him in death in
1992.
Mr. Brown was honorably discharged from the
United States Navy after serving on the USS Stribling (DD-867).
He worshipped the Lord at Grace Brethren Church in Mishawaka. He
was a faithful and active member of Ireland Road Grace Brethren
Church until it was no longer in existence, where he was
responsible for remodeling an addition in 1983.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Rev. Robert Divine,
Rev. Davy Troxel and Rev. Scott L. Weaver will officiate.
Graveside services and military honors will follow at Southlawn
Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00
to 8:00 p.m. today, Nov. 30, 2007, in the funeral home.
