MISHAWAKA - David B. Brown, 85, passed away on August 1,
2008, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on March 10,
1923, to the late Oda Rachel Miller and Willard Kenneth Brown in
Bicknell, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his
first wife and mother of his daughters, Alice Huggert in
1978; his sister, Opal Louise in 1987; and brothers, Samuel
Kenneth, 1997, and George Edward in 1925. On December 29, 1979,
he married the former Eleanor Hardy-Grimes. She survives
along with his children, Janet (Bozidar) Kornic,
Stevensville, MI, Carol Stephenson, Bremen, and Sandy Fisher,
Bremen; along with his stepchildren, Marc (Jodie) Hardy,
Indianapolis, IN, Cheryl (Tony) Miller, Cassopolis, MI, and
Laurie (Rick) Miller, Granger. He is also survived by 14
grandchildren.
He entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 17
and served from 1941 to 1951. and was a veteran of WW II and the
Korean War. He retired from Dodge Manufacturing in 1982 after 30
years. He and his wife Eleanor lived in Port Charlotte, FL, from
1995 until they moved back home in 2006. Dave was a member of the
Northway Church of Christ, South Bend, IN. Dave loved and was
well-loved as a husband, father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and
friends. He was an avid euchre, cribbage and bocce ball player.
He was a Cub's fanatic, enjoyed traveling and especially loved
Las Vegas.
Please join us in celebrating Dave's life on
Monday, August 4th, from 2 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W.
8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday, August 5th, in the funeral home, with Rev. Ed Erskin
officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka,
with military services by VFW Post 360/American Legion burial
team. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for
Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637; or to a charity of your choice.
