Bernice M. Brown, 57, of 501 S. Jackson St., Mishawaka, Ind., died at 11:17 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, in the emergency room of St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Bernice was born on May 5, 1939, in Mishawaka, to Glenn and Lamoile Bordner. She was a lifetime resident of the area and she was a homemaker.

As Bernice M. Bordner, she married Eldon E. Brown, in Mishawaka, in 1973. Eldon preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1978. Bernice is survived by three daughters, Christina Wooten and Deborah Haggin, both of Mishawaka, and Kimberly Chadwell of Elkhart, Ind.; three sons, Collin Chadwell, Eldon Chadwell and Michael Brown, all of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; six brothers, Virgil Bordner of Indiana, John Bordner of Mishawaka, Ebert Bordner of Logansport, Ind., Thomas Bordner of Minnesota, and Dennis Bordner and David Bordner, both of California; and four sisters, Caroline Smith of Mishawaka, and Dorothy Balish, Linda Jackson and Ann Marie Schmanski, all of South Bend.

Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Rev. Stephen Sears will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Brown Fund, payable to Michael Reid.
