Owen R. Broomall, 78, of Guam Ave.,
Mishawaka, Indiana, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 13 in St.
Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. He was born on August 2,
1921 in Decatur, Michigan to Olive (VanOssenbruggen) and
Charles Broomall both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Broomall
was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Richard Broomall who
died November 8, 1978.
On August 3, 1946 in Evanston, Illinois, he
married Edith M. Eckland who survives. He is also survived
by four daughters, Karen Krassner of Camarillo,
California, Janet Hagglund of Mishawaka, Indiana, Laura
Broomall of South Bend and Donna Broomall of Mishawaka, a son,
Dour Broomall of Elkhart two grandchildren, Michael Krassner of
Seattle, Washington and Jennifer Krassner of Camarillo, Ca., a
sister, Opal Freier of Arvada, Colorado and a brother,
Omer Broomall of Princeton, Ill. Mr. Broomall was a truck driver
for Allied Van Lines working for Woodworth Storage and Transfer
in South Bend. He was a member of Harris Prairie Church of
Christ, Granger, VFW Post 360, Mishawaka the Teamster Union and
was a Veteran of World War II.
Services for Mr. Broomall will be at 11 a.m.
today, July 17, in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St.,
South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will conduct services. Friends called
from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday, July 16, in the Funeral Home. Burial will
be in Highland Cemetery where Mishawaka VFW Post 360 will conduct
military graveside rites. The family has requested that memorial
contributions be made to Harris Prairie Church of Christ, 14719
St. Rd. 23, Granger, Indiana 46530.
