Betty Jean Brook
SOUTH BEND - Betty Jean Brook, 81,
died peacefully on January 14 at 9:16 p.m. surrounded by loving
family. Her husband of over 60 years, Melvin Brook, age 90, was
by her side. Recently diagnosed with lung cancer, Betty lived her
final days as she did her life, with grace and love.
A committed member of Sinai Synagogue, Betty served two terms as
president of the Sinai Sisterhood and was active in community
initiatives.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; her
sons, Neil Brook (Dora) Indianapolis and Sanford Brook (Jenny) of
Evergreen, CO; her brother, Dr. Alfred Fromm of Mishawaka;
and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Brook of South Bend. She was
predeceased by her brother, Daniel Fromm. Betty's sparkle lives
on through her five grandchildren, Cara Brook of South Bend, Lisa
Juffer (Derek) of Indianapolis, Max Brook of Indiana,
Riley Brook of Evergreen and Conner Brook of Evergreen.
Services for Betty will be held at Sinai
Synagogue today at noon. Contributions in celebration of Betty's
life may be made to Sinai Synagogue; or to the Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637. Arrangements are being handled by the McGann Hay, Forest
G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood, South Bend.
