Leonard R. Brohman, 87, of South
Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, June 10, in Memorial
Hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Niles, Mich., to the
late Edward and Cora Brohman.
On July 23, 1938, in South Bend, he married
Mildred King, who also preceded him in death in 1961.
On July 6, 1966, in South Bend, he married
Barbara Pickett Lafler, who survives. He is also
survived by a sister-in-law, Ardyst Brohman of Berrien Springs,
Mich., and by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and
nephews. Mr. Brohman was a retired brick mason, worked for the
Mumford Construction Company, and was a forty-year member of
Brick Layers Union #4. Mr. Brohman served in the U.S. Army in
World War II, was active in the Battle of the Bulge, and received
the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was a life member of
American Legion Post #50, D.A.V. White Eagle Post #39.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, June 13, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N.
William Street, with the Rev. Mary Hubbard, pastor of Central
United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Southlawn
Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 12, in
the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to the charity of donor's choice.
