SOUTH BEND - Lester Brockus, 85, of
Eastbrook Drive, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in his home after an
illness. Mr. Brockus retired in 1972 from Bendix Corp. as an
assembler after 38 years of service. He was born Jan. 2, 1909, in
Argos and lived in South Bend most of his life.
On May 22, 1948, in South Bend, he married
Marina C. Daoust. She survives with a stepson, Al
Poelvoorde of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl of Mishawaka and Fred
of Niles. He was a former member of Eagles Lodge, Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 1167, and United Auto Workers Local 9. He was a
veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in
Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
