SOUTH BEND - Estel Brockus, 86, of 1237 Longfellow Ave., died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal. Mr. Brockus retired from Studebaker Corp. after 27 years of service. He was born April 23, 1907, in South Bend, and lived in South Bend most of his life.

On Sept. 1, 1939, in South Bend, he married Elsa A. Hagquist. She survives, with three brothers, Earl and Lester, both of South Bend, and Fred of Niles. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a veteran of World War II.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place, with burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American
