Robert Lee Brinley, 68, residing in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in his home of congestive heart failure. Mr. Brinley was born on July 13, 1934 in South Bend to the late Homer Richard and Kathryn Emma (Miller) Brinley. Mr. Brinley was a lifelong area resident.
On Nov. 17, 1956, in Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend, Robert married the former Judith Ann Bronsing. Along with his wife, Judi of 47 years, he is survived by a son, Lee Allen (Angela) Brinley of Carol Stream, Ill., and a daughter, Cynthia Louise (Donald) McCay of New Carlisle, Ind.; four grandchildren, Alaina Ann, Lee Alexander, Christopher Lee and Daniel Michael. Also, a sister, Nanci (Michael) Discher of Dallas, TX, and a brother, Richard Alan Brinley of Haysville, Kan.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and attended North Central College, Naperville, Ill. He then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Bob was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 163, and enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes, Caribbean, West Coast and Greek Isles. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with services immediately following.
