Martha Brink

Jan. 29, 1945 - Dec. 15, 2001

Martha "Mickie" Brink, 56, of East 12th Street in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in her daughter's residence in Mishawaka. Mickie is now at peace after a two-year courageous battle with breast cancer.

Mrs. Brink was born Jan. 29, 1945, in Ronoke, Ark., to Jessie and Audrey (Jones) Whitaker. On Sept. 29, 1962, Mickie married Ronald E. Brink, who preceded her in death, passing on March 15, 1999. Mickie was also preceded in death by her father, Jessie; a son, Troy Brink; and by her sister, Susie Bucker.

Family members left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tina Hurstel, and her husband, Jim of Mishawaka; her mother, Audrey Whitaker of Elkhart, Ind.; brothers, Larry Whitaker and his wife, Alla of Elkhart, Danny Whitaker of Osceola, Ind.; a sister, Barbara Brink, and her husband, Bernie of Florida; and by three grandsons, Jimmy, Ryan and Ronny Hurstel, and three granddaughters, Anna Hurstel, Kayla Squint and Andrea Brink.

Mrs. Brink was employed by Kroger's, working since 1976 in the delicatessen.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 18, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, by Reverend Elden Miller of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
