SOUTH BEND - Robert J. Bright Sr., 74, of Sorin Street, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Bright retired in 1990 from Basney Ford as a salesman and was a former employee of Freedom Car Sales, Mishawaka. He was born July 2, 1921, in Akron and lived in South Bend for 61 years.

On Aug. 14, 1954, in Bourbon, he married Dolores Marks. She survives with two daughters, Patricia Grossnickle of Mishawaka and Carol Foster of Plymouth; four sons, Robert J., Ronald M., and Randall J., all of South Bend, and Richard L. of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Betty Stoner of Delphi, Ind.; and two brothers, Kenneth of Akron and Junior of North Manchester, Ind. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6. He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
