SOUTH BEND - Mr. Carl Eclispe Briggs, 62, beloved father,
grandfather, great- grandfather and brother who resided on St.
Louis Street, South Bend, Indiana, and formerly of Niles,
Michigan, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008, in
Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana. Carl was born to the
union of Erby D. and Lena (Hatcher) Briggs on December 18,
1945, in Niles, Michigan, who both preceded him in death. He was
honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1970. He
worked for the Ferry Street Youth Center and was a member of
Mount Calvary Church. Carl loved to talk, play pool, dance and
motivate children. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a
sister, and two brothers, Eddie Briggs and O.C. Briggs. Survivors
include one daughter, Terina Lee Briggs, and one son, Carl E.
Briggs Jr., both of Los Angeles, California; seven grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dessie Cobbs of
Niles, Michigan, and Carol Gillen of Benton Harbor,
Michigan; a brother, Art (Connie) Briggs of South Bend; along
with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Eclispe Briggs
will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, in Mount Calvary
Church in Niles, Michigan. Visitation will be held in the church
on Friday, June 6, from noon to 1:00 p.m. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
