Mary Ellen Brien, 69, of South West Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away following an illness at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, in her home. She was born on Oct. 22, 1931, in South Bend, Ind., to Willard F. Brien and Katherine (Stoney) Brien, who both preceded her in death.

Mrs. Brien was a service department supervisor at NIPSCO for 19 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

She is survived her children, Martha Mary Patton, Michael T. Patton, Kathleen M. Patton Huguenard, Timothy P. Patton, Mary Brigid Patton, Mary Frances Patton Langham, Suzanne M. Patton and Marigrace M. Patton; her brothers and sisters, William E. Brien, Katherine C. Stoepler, J. Patrick Brien, Michael B. Brien and James T. Brien; her grandchildren, David M. Yeakel, Valerie B. Huguenard, Nichole E. Huguenard, Jennifer G. Patton and Natalie R. Patton.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of St. Joseph County.
