Rev. Francis D. Bridenstine CSC, 69, died early today at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 18, 1909 in Indianapolis, and entered the Holy Cross Seminary at Notre Dame in 1924. He professed his vows in 1929 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1937 at Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame. He taught and studied at the University of Portland, Ore. from 1937 to 1942. He served as chaplain in the US Army from 1942 to 1962, when he retired as a lieutenant colonial. He had lived at Holy Cross House since 1962 because of illness.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Moreau Seminary, with burial in the Community Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the seminary, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
