Dr. Clarence Bremer

Dr. Clarence Bremer, 94, of South
Bend, Ind., passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, 2002 in Saint
Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1908, in
Holland, Mich., to the late Albert and Grace (Meyer)
Bremer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy.
On Sept. 25, 1935, he married the former
Dorothy Stroop, who died in 1988. He is survived by his daughter,
Gail B. Marti (Donald) of South Bend; son, James Clarence
Bremer (Mary) of Silver Spring, Md.; four grandchildren, Donald
Marti (Tabinda), Karl Marti, Joan BremerMoore
(Jeffrey) and James Bremer Jr.
Dr. Bremer retired in 1973 as research
director for the Oakite Products Company of New Jersey. He
received an AB degree in 1929 from Hope College and his Ph.D. in
organic chemistry in 1933 from Ohio State. From 1955-1973 he
served on the board of directors of Oakite Products. Dr. Bremer
was a member of the American Chemical Society.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today,
Nov. 16, 2002 in Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne
Street, with Rev. John van Lackum officiating. Burial will be at
Graafschap Cemetery, Holland, Mich. Visitation will be one hour
prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion
United Church of Christ or to the donor's charity of choice. The
Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of family services.
