Dr. Robert L. Braunsdorf MD

Jan. 27, 1908 – Feb. 9, 1985

Word has been received that Dr. Robert L. Braunsdorf, M.D., 77, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of South Bend, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital.  He was in family practice in South Bend prior to moving to Topeka in 1950, where he practiced until 1982.  He also served as deputy coroner of Shawnee County, Topeka.  Services were Tuesday at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Topeka, and burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery there.  The Brennan Funeral Home, Topeka, handled arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Renal Dialysis Unit, in care of St. Francis Hospital, 1700 W. Seventh, Topeka, 66606, or to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 2700 S. E. Virginia St., Topeka, 66605.

 

Dr. Braunsdorf was born Jan. 27, 1908, in South Bend.  On Sept. 7, 1939, in South Bend, he married Marjorie Breitenstein, who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Linda Morgovnik of Alexandria, Va.; three sons, Dick of Kansas City, Kan., Paul of Rochester, N.Y., and David of Topeka; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret O’Neill and Alice Hennion, both of South Bend; and a brother, William Braunsdorf of South Bend.  He was a member of the church, Shawnee County Medical society, Kansas Medical Society and the American Medical Association, and was a past member of the Highland Park optimist Club in Topeka.  He attended the University of Notre Dame, was a graduate of Northwestern University and received his medical degree from the University of Michigan.
