Raymond C. Braun

Raymond C. Braun, 71, of Elder Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in his residence after an illness. Raymond was born May 23, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Ind. to Alford and Margaret Braun, who both have preceded him in death. Mr. Braun had lived in the area since 1950 coming from Fort Wayne. He retired from Uniroyal in 1986 after 36 years.

On Feb. 2, 1957, in Mishawaka, Raymond C. Braun married Sadie M. Mickels. Sadie survives along with three daughters, Margaret Mason of Arkansas, Marlene Santiago of Mishawaka and Melody Mackin of Virginia; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Somers of New Haven, Ind., Joan Braun and Evelyn Heinecke, both of Fort Wayne. Mr. Braun was preceded by one sister, Ruth Householder and two brothers, Donald J. and Thomas A. Braun.

Services will be Tuesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka. Officiating will be Rev. Elden Miller. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call Monday, May 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Mr. Braun was a charter member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka. He was also a volunteer at St. Joseph Community Hospital and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
