Carl L. Brandt Sr. (Nov. 15, 1921 -- July
25, 2003)
Carl L. Brandt Sr., 81, residing on Union
Road, Walkerton, Ind., passed away at 10:14 a.m. Friday, July 25,
in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind
He was a truck driver for Preston Trucking
Company, South Bend, for 38 years. Mr. Brandt was born on Nov.
15, 1921, in Center Point, Ind., to Fred and Ida May (Barley)
Brandt, and had been a lifelong resident of South Bend and
Walkerton
On June 15, 1940, in Bowling Green, Ind.,
he married Magdalene Staley, who survives. Along with his wife,
Magdalene Brandt of Walkerton, he is survived by two daughters,
Sherian (Joe) Young of Churubusco, Ind., and Robin Williams
of South Bend; two sons, Thoral (Sandra) Brandt of Terre Haute,
Ind., and Marvin (Charlene) Brandt of Calhan, Colo.; 17
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and by two sisters,
Phyllis Nees of Riley, Ind., and Ruth King of
Indianapolis, Ind
He was preceded in death by his son, Carl
L. Brandt Jr. on May 19, 1998; by a brother, Phil; and by a
sister, Jenny
Mr. Brandt was past master and member of
Masonic Lodge #353 F&AM, Lakeville, Ind., past patron and
member of Order of the Eastern Star, Lakeville, member of First Baptist
Church, Walkerton, and served in the U.S. Army during World War
II
Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m. Monday, July 28, in First Baptist Church, 200 Main St.,
Walkerton. Rev. D.O. VanDyne will officiate. Graveside services
and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. today, July 27,
in the Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville, and in the church on Monday
one hour prior to services.
