SOUTH BEND - Helen M. Brahlek, 94, passed away at 5:45
a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in the Limestone Heritage Nursing
Home, Gainesville, GA. She was born on March 16, 1914, in South
Bend, IN, to Joseph and Vilma (Horvath) Balogh, and
had lived most of her life in the South Bend area. On April 12,
1930, she married Julius Brahlek, who preceded her in death on
April 14, 1984. Mrs. Brahlek is survived by two daughters, Norma
J. Kronewitter of South Bend and Marlene Johnson of
Lavonia, GA; two sons, James Brahlek of Hagerstown, MD, and Jack
Brahlek of Dorr, MI; one sister, Ann Smeltzer of South
Bend; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six
great-great-grandchildren. Helen was employed at the former
Cook's Discount Store in South Bend for 12 years as a cashier.
She was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South
Bend.
Private services and entombment were held on
Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, assisted the family with
arrangements.
