NOTRE DAME, IN -Francis X. ("Tim") Bradley, Jr., 93,
passed away on December 30, 2009 at Scubert Villa, Notre Dame,
IN. Tim was born in Salamanca, NY on October 31, 1916. He
graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1939 with a degree
in aeronautical engineering. Tim married Helen E.
("Betty") Baxter in 1940 while serving as an advanced
flying instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He transferred to
the Central African Division of the Air Transport Command in 1944
where he served as division operations officer. Tim then returned
to Notre Dame, where he earned a master's degree in math and a
law degree in 1949. After receiving an advanced degree from Yale
Law School, Tim taught for two years at the Creighton University
Law School. He then worked as military requirements engineer at
Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company. In 1957, Tim again returned
to Notre Dame and served as Director of its Office of Research
and Sponsored Programs. In 1969, he became director of projects
and sponsored programs for the American Society for Engineering
Education in Washington D.C. Tim is survived by his wife of 69
years Betty, his brother John, his children Michael(Hilary),
Joseph (Carolyn), Francis X. (Lea), Christopher and Catherine and
his grandchildren, Katherine, Conor, Matthew, Emma, Justin and
Alexa. He was preceded in death by his brother William, daughter
Mary Patricia and son Richard. The family expresses its' deep
appreciation to the staff and residents of Schubert Villa for the
outstanding care and support extended by them to Tim. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Chapel, Holy
Cross College, Notre Dame, IN. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at
11:00 am. Visitation precedes the mass from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
at St. Joseph Chapel. The family suggests that donations be made
in Tim's memory to the Little Flower Food Pantry, Little Flower
Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN., 46635. To
