Eliza Boyd

Mrs. Eliza Boyd, 69, loved and cared
deeply for her family and friends, resided on Stanfield, South
Bend, Ind. She passed on to be with the Lord at 12:40 p.m. on
Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001. She was born on June 17, 1932, in
Grenada, Miss., to the union of Thomas and Edith (Booker) Jones.
Coming from Grenada, she had resided in South Bend since 1953.
On Dec. 25, 1954, she was united in holy
matrimony to Jimmie L. Boyd Sr. God blessed their union with four
bundles of joy, one boy and three girls. Her memory will be
cherished in the hearts of husband, Jimmie L. Boyd Sr.; a son,
Jimmy L. Boyd J r.; three daughters, Edith, Margaret and Jackie
Boyd; three grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua and Jacques; along
with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents,
brothers and sisters, including Annie Louise Verse of
South Bend on Oct. 18, 1997.
Mrs. Eliza Boyd was a retired employee of
Saint Joseph Medical Center. She was a Christian who accepted
Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Upon her early
arrival to South Bend, she became a faithful member of Macedonia
Missionary Baptist Church for forty-plus years and attended until
her health began to fail. Her mission included providing for the
needy beginning in her community and around the world
encompassing Haiti. Even after her ailment, she used her
automobile horn to call and continue to provide for many families
in her community. Her services included transportation and
providing groceries from the rear of her automobile, feeding the
needy at the curbside of their home.
The family visitation will be held one hour
before the noon service for Mrs. Eliza Boyd on Thursday, Sept.
27, in the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church followed by
interment at Highland Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's
Mortuary.
