SOUTH BEND - On the day of April 8, 2010, the Lord called one of
his precious angels home by the name of Michael Justin Boyce Jr.
Michael was born October 4, 2001. He was a second grader at
McKinley Primary School where he was an honor roll student and
very outgoing. He was in the top five of his class. His
short-lived life made a major impact on all and he had a smile
that brightened your day. Michael was very brave, ambitious and a
fun-loving person who had a passion for music, dancing and
sports. At the age of two years he began rapping. The late
Michael Jackson was one of his musical influences. He was truly a
star who will always be with us. Michael, you have truly earned
your wings. Michael was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Kendra L.
Henderson and Michael Boyce. He passed away in Riley Children's
Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family
at the age of eight years. Besides his parents, he is survived by
a sister, Madison Boyce; one brother, Makai Boyce; maternal
grandparents, Rosalind Diggins of Holiday, Florida, and Kenyth
"Pinball" Henderson of South Bend, IN; paternal
grandmother, Cheryl Boyce of Grand Rapids, MI; maternal
great-grandparents, Martin "Duck" (Helen) Henderson,
Betty Lou Tidwell of Indianapolis, IN, Bennie (Pauline) Diggins
of Holiday, Florida, and Harold (Sherry) Simmons of South Bend;
paternal great-grandparents, Willie Boyce and Sylvia Gregory of
South Bend; aunts, Latima Diggins, Veronica and Raven Boyce of
South Bend, and Ashley Boyce of Indianapolis; a special uncle,
Raphael Jones of Holiday, Florida; special cousins, Tyshon and
DeMarcus; and best friend, Da'Qua Jennings; along with a host of
great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him
dearly. He was preceded in death by William Boyce, Joseph Boyce,
Anna Mae Gregory, Dempsey Diggins, Mozell Hughes, Minnie
Henderson, Prince Sessom, Algerine Henderson, John Sessom and
Columbus Coleman II. In lieu of flowers, may contribute to
Alford's Mortuary. Funeral services of Michael will be held at
noon on Friday, April 16, 2010, at Pentecostal Cathedral Church
of God in Christ where the pastor is Bishop Donald L. Alford Sr.
Viewing will take place at the church from 11 a.m. to noon.
