Doris Jean Bottorff, 71, of South Bend, passed away Friday morning at Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born April 28, 1925 in South Bend, to Leon and Anna (Hanneman) Van Antwerp, who preceded her in death.
She married Beryl A. Bottorff in South Bend on April 22, 1944. From their union they had five children, Nancy Richards of Mishawaka, Carol Cukrowicz of Anderson, Ind., Beryl Bottorff Jr. of Granger and Larry B. and Craig H., of South Bend. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Marilyn Bottorff, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bottorff retired from the South Bend Community School Corp. where she worked as a cook at Washington High School from 1966 to 1996. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Food Services Association. She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.
Services will be held on Monday, March 31, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where friends may call after 11 a.m. til services at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery following services. The family requests that in lieu of floral gifts in mother's memory that contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
