SOUTH BEND - Walter R. Botich, Sr., 75, of Ladbrooke Lane, passed away at 7:42 a.m. on Monday, April 5, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mr. Botich retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation where he was a purchasing agent. He was born on Dec. 2, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to Alex and Stana Botich, who both preceded him in death.

On June 8, 1946, in South Bend, he married Donna Shaffer, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Walter R. (Kristy) Botich, Jr., of South Bend; a stepson, Gene (Patty) McGowen of Niles; a stepdaughter, Patricia (Russell) Hosler of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two grandchildren, Walter R. Botich, III, and Joseph W. Botich; five stepgrandchildren, Jeff McGowen, Brett McGowen, Russell Hosler, Phillip Hosler and Chris Hosler; and by a brother, Michael Botich of South Bend.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, in the Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox church. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, and one hour before the services in the church. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Orthodox Church or to the Visiting Nurse Association.
