Lois Eileen Boomhower, 66, of Council
Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away after a
sudden illness at 10:27 a.m. on Satur-day, June 19, in Jennie
Ed-mundson Hospital, Council Bluffs. Mrs. Boom-hower was born on
March 1, 1933, to Oris and Helen Webb. Lois was preceded
in death by her parents, Oris and Helen (Sossman) Webb;
and by a sister, Gloria Paluzzi. She had lived in the
Michiana area most of her life, moving to Iowa two years ago. On
Aug. 2, 1953, in the First English Lutheran Church, Mishawaka,
Ind., as Lois Eileen Webb, she was united in marriage to James
Robert Boomhower, who survives. She is also survived by two
daughters, Debra Boomhower of South Bend and Lori (Gary) Kruse
of Glenwood, Iowa; a son, Doug (Emily) Boomhower of Norco,
Calif.; two grandchildren, Travis and Tori Kruse of Glenwood,
Iowa; three step-granddaughters, Julie Spaulding of Mission,
Kan., Trisha McLanahan of Chicago, Ill., and Shawna Kruse
of Columbia, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Spaulding
of Mission; and by three brothers, Harry Webb and Roy Webb, both
of South Bend, and Gene Webb of Delray Beach, Fla. Mr. and Mrs.
Boomhower raised their children in North Liberty, Ind., having
lived there for 22 years before moving to South Bend where they
remained until their 1997 move to Iowa. Lois worked side by side
with her husband Jim who for many years was executive secretary
for the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair. Mrs. Boomhower was a member
of the First English Lutheran Church, and was a loving mother,
wife and grandmother to all of her family. She will be sadly
missed, but left many cherished memories. The family request that
all memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or to
the American Heart Association.
Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 22, in the First English Lutheran Church, 16495 Ireland Road, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be in the church at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Rev. Rudolph Mueller will officiate. Pall bearers entrusted for the service will be, Frank Ronchetti, Michael Ronchetti, Roy Webb, Jr., Bill Boomhower, Clifton Boomhower and Ray Boomhower. The Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road and Indiana #23, South Bend, handled arrangements and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Boomhower family.
