SOUTH BEND - Brother Marcellus ''Philip'' Bonen, CSC, 80, of Holy Cross House, University of Notre Dame, died Sunday in his residence. Brother Bonen was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Marshall, Mo.

He entered the Brothers of Holy Cross Aug. 15, 1940; made temporary profession Aug. 16, 1941; and took final vows Aug. 16, 1944. He was assigned to seminaries of Holy Cross fathers, serving in Rolling Prairie and Washington, D.C. He is survived by a sister, Anna Bonen of Marshall.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Brothers' Center. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, University of Notre Dame. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday until services in the Holy Cross Brothers' Center. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
