Sept. 7, 1938-March 6, 1997 Lois Elaine Burggraf Bonek, 58, of
Birchwood Ave., South Bend, Ind., passed away from complications
from amyotrophic lateral sclorosis (ALS) at 6:08 p.m. on
Thursday, March 6, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born
in Mishawaka, Ind., on Sept. 7, 1938, to Andrew and Ruby (Donald)
Burggraf, both of whom preceded her in death. Lois is survived by
two daughters, Karen Marie Orlwoski and Michele Diane Kaczynski
of South Bend; two sons, Kenneth Patrick Bonek of Pensacola,
Fla., and Michael Daniel Bonek of Buchanan, Mich.; six
grandchildren, Chelsea Danielle, Chantel Marie, and Shaina Rose
Orlowski, Daniel Michael and Rachel Lynn Bonek, and Samantha
Martha Kaczynski; and two brothers, John Burggraf of South Bend
and Norman Burggraf of Osceola, Ind. Lois had been employed for
over 20 years as a dietician at the former Cardinal-Meridian
Healthcare Facility in South Bend. She was a member of St.
Casimir Catholic Church, and was a 1957 graduate of Mishawaka
High School. Friends may call at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral
Home from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday March 9. A rosary will be recited
at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Services will be at 10
a.m. on Monday in St. Casimir Church. Burial will follow in the
Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made
to Research for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclorosis, c/o The Muscular
