SOUTH BEND - Helen B. Bogunia, 86,
formerly of Maple Lane, South Bend, Ind., where she resided with
her daughter, Georgianne Wachowiak, died at 4:15 a.m. on
Sunday, May 24, in Regency Place.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1912, in South
Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She retired in 1977 from
Koszegi Industries.
Mrs. Bogunia was married on Feb. 18, 1933,
as Helen Karpinski, to Joseph J. Bogunia, who preceded her
in death on Sept. 1, 1966. She is survived by three daughters,
Georgianne (Raymond) Wachowiak of South Bend, Arline (Gerald) Youts
of Niles, Mich., and Mary Ann Freeze of South Bend; and by
14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandson. Mrs. Bogunia was a member of St. Casimir
Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and Senior Citizens also of
the church.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the
St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a combined
Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. by the parish and the Senior
Citizens of St. Casimir. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday
in St. Casimir Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St.
Joseph Cemetery.
