Leo Ervin Blume, 81, of Healthwin Specialized Care, formerly of South Taylor Street, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in Healthwin. Mr. Blume retired from South Bend Lathe where he was employed for 47 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church. Leo was born on July 9, 1922, in Mishawaka, Ind., to August and Maude (Keiser) Blume.
On Aug. 13, 1945, in South Bend, Ind., he married the former Margaret A. Kormendi, who died on July 6, 1992. Mr. Blume was also preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Egendoefer; and by four brothers, Fred Blume, Homer Blume, Howard Blume and Lawrence Blume.
Surviving are a daughter, Annmarie (George Forman) Calvin of Mishawaka; two sons, Rev. Michael A. Blume, S.V.D., of Rome, Italy, and Robert E. (Anita) Blume of Edwardsburg, Mich.; three grandchildren, Kristina (Jeremy) Lind of South Bend, and Robin Blume and John Blume, both of Edwardsburg; and a great-grandchild, Caspian Lind of South Bend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S.
