MISHAWAKA - Larry Blume, 67, of 609 Tanglewood Lane,
formerly of 457 Ridge Road, died at 9:13 a.m. Wednesday (May 7,
2008) in Fountainview Place of Mishawaka. He was born December
17, 1940, in Mishawaka to Homer and Maxine (Shafer) Blume.
Surviving is a brother, Jim R. Blume of Hastings, FL, and a
sister, Joan M. (Dennis W.) Wilson, of Mishawaka. Also
surviving are two nephews, Ian P. Wilson of New York City, New
York and Max C. Wilson of Nacogdoches, TX; and a niece, Ana K.
Wilson of Ft. Worth, TX.
Larry retired from the South Bend Police
Department in 2001 as a Division Chief. He was a police officer
for 34 years. After his retirement from the police department he
worked as a police office for the University of Notre Dame. Larry
graduated in 1959 from Mishawaka High School. He was a member of
Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Mishawaka Knights of
Columbus, and the South Bend FOP Lodge #36. He was a US Army
veteran, an avid Notre Dame Sports Fan and he enjoyed golfing.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, May 20, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula
Road, Mishawaka, IN. At Larry's request, cremation will take
place. Elkhart Cremation Services is assisting the family with
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center
for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South
Bend, IN 46637.
