Marie L. Blechschmidt, 99, living at the Cardinal Nursing Center, South Bend, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at 9:15 p.m. Marie formerly lived on East Ewing Street prior to moving to the Nursing Center. Marie was born May 20, 1901, in Woodland, Indiana to Fred and Ida Weigel and they preceded her in death.

In September 1925, she married Edward Blechschmidt and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1979. Marie is survived by nieces and nephews: Dorothy Zillmer of South Bend, IN, Joan Oster, Baltimore, MD, Edward and Eleanor Ginbelberger of Osceola, IN, Carl and Rosemary Blechschmidt of Baltimore, MD, and John Blechschmidt in Florida.

Services for Marie L. Blechschmidt will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, in the funeral home.
