Paul C. Blankenhorn, 77, of Bastogne
Avenue in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes on
Monday, Dec. 2, in his home. Mr. Blankenhorn was born Sept. 17,
1925, to Mr. and Mrs. G.D. Blankenhorn in Canal Fulton, Ohio.
On Sept. 18, 1948, Paul married the former
Miss Phyllis Byland in Kirksville, Mo. She survives. He is
also survived by two sons, James Blankenhorn and Richard
Blankenhorn of Mishawaka; two daughters, Judy Hooper of
Columbia, S.C., and Gail Stroh and her husband, Michael of South
Bend, Ind.; a brother, Dr. Glenn Blankenhorn of Dataw Island,
S.C.; three sisters, Jean Chastain of Columbia, Mo., Irene
Newman of Lancaster, Calif., and Gail Textor of
Grand Blanc, Mich.; and by four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. Mr. Blankenhorn was preceded in death by his
sister, Ruth Gibson.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m.
today, Dec. 4, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, with
calling one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Mr. Blankenhorn received his bachelor's
degree in education from Missouri University in Columbia, Mo. Mr.
Blankenhorn was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army
and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Blankenhorn was active
with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America for several years.
He enjoyed bow hunting for deer and especially enjoyed golf. Mr.
Blankenhorn was also very involved in tutoring math for many
children in the area. He was employed as an electrical engineer
for 21 years with the Bendix Corporation of Mishawaka, and 17
years with Johnson Controls in Goshen, Ind., where he belonged to
the Retirees Club of Bendix and Johnson Controls.
Memorial donations in his name may be made
to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
