Wayne Allen Blad

Wayne Allen Blad, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 30, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. He was born in South Bend to Martin E. and Verna J. Blad, who survive. He attended Purdue University. He was president of Martin Blad Farms, Inc. He and his father were a great team who worked together for his entire life.

In 1985 he married Wilda Emmons, who also survives. He had three children, Marti Charleen of Baton Rouge, La., Kristin Marie of South Bend and Eric Wayne (Alessia) of South Bend; and one grandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Larry Martin (Jeanne) Blad, and a sister, Janis Verna (Don) Hile of Indianapolis, Ind., and South Bend. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, and served on the board of directors of the Broadway Theatre League.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, in Grace United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 2, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. The Welsheimer Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family has requested that donations be made to the Heart Association of St. Joseph County.
