SOUTH BEND - Walter E. Blacharski, 84, residing in South Bend,
passed away at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in Hospice House.
He was born on December 2, 1925, in South Bend, to Walter C. and
Marie (Wojciechowski) Blacharski. On September 8, 1946, in South
Bend, he married Delane (Balcom) Blacharski, who survives. Mr.
Blacharski is also survived by daughter, Janice (Randy) Sipress
of South Bend; son, Dan (Charoenkwan "Be") Blacharski
of South Bend; six grandchildren, Shanti Blacharski, Michelle
Smith, Eric Lupa, Nicholas McCurdie, Jamie McCurdie and Lindsay
McCurdie; 10 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Matthew
Blacharski of Tucson, AZ, Harry Blacharski of Mishawaka and Larry
(Mary) Blacharski of Mishawaka. Daughter, Carolyn Sue Lupa, son,
Dennis Wayne Blacharski, sisters, Henrietta Manning and Dorthea
Fleming, and brothers, Benny and Al, preceded him in death. Mr.
Blacharski was a lifelong area resident. He served honorably in
the United States Navy during World War II on board the USS
Purdy. He was a member of the Northway Church of Christ. Funeral
services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, in the
Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten Road, South Bend. Rev. Ed
Erskin will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery,
South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. today
in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan
St., South Bend, and one hour prior to the services in church on
Friday. Contributions in memory of Walter E. Blacharski may be
