Walter E. "Walt" Bishop,
91, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 4:30 a.m.
on Sunday, Oct. 28, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Walter was
born on Dec. 6, 1909, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late Frank and
Jennie Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jack
Bishop, and by his brothers and sister.
On Nov. 30, 1929, he married the former
Mildred E. Ward, who survives to cherish their 72 years of
marriage. He is also survived by his son, Dennis (Ann) Bishop of
Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Debbie (Steven) Gustafson
and Dennis (Lynn) Bishop II of Wichita Falls;
great-grandchildren, Ashton and Hayden Gustafson, and Caleb and
Courtney Bishop; and by his cousins and many friends who will
miss him.
Mr. Bishop worked for many years for the
Studebaker Motor Car Company until their closing in 1963. He
retired as an inspector for the sales tax division of the State
of Indiana. Walt was a devoted Catholic man and attended daily
Mass for many years.
A Mass of Christian B urial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in C orpus Christi
Catholic Church, with Rev. Camillo Tirabassi officiating.
Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call
from 3 to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 30, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home,
521 N. William Street, where a parish Rosary will be held at 4
p.m.
