David Earl Bishop, 65, of 1514
Catalpa St., South Bend, departed this life at 10:28 a.m.
Saturday, June 29, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, following an
extended illness. He was born on Feb. 23, 1931, in Malvina,
Miss., and had lived in South Bend since 1954, coming from
Greenville, Miss.
In 1960, in South Bend, he was united in
wedlock to Pearl Howard who survives. Also surviving are three
daughters, Jarmatte Delois (Dede) Bishop, Sandra Easton
and Diane Bishop, all of South Bend, Ind.; five sons, Glenn,
Anthony, David, Murray and Ronnie Bishop, all of South Bend,
Ind.; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Rosie Lee Addison of Oak Park, Ill., and Anita Webster
of Indianapolis, Ind. and Lois Knight of Kansas City, Mo.;
one brother, Bennie Bishop of Mishawaka, Ind.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30
p.m. at St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church. Burial in Highland
Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the services in the
church. Mr. Bishop retired from AM General Corporation in 1992.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He
also was a member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church, serving as
president of the choir, male chorus, and founder of their Monday
evening prayer service. Alford's Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
