Orville D. Birk, 74, of Harman Drive,
Mishawaka, Ind., died at 11:53 on Friday, Feb. 20, in St. Joseph
Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 11, 1923, in Lakeville, Ind.,
and had lived in this area most of his life. Orville retired in
1986, from Casteel Construction, where he worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Carpenters and Jointers Union Local #413
and was a World War II Army veteran.
On April 7, 1944, in Tyner, Ind., he married
Mary A. Ford, who survives. He is also survived by two
sons, Randy D. of Osceola, Ind., and Brian L. of Huntington
Beach, Calif.; five grandsons, Shan, Jason, Travis, Aaron and
Nathan; and by his sister, Helen Weber of South Bend. He
was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Among his
hobbies were gardening, carpentry and fishing. He was a loving
husband, father, and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday
in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the
funeral home with Rev. Cliff Quantz, officiating. Burial will
follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions
may be made to the American Heart and American Lung Associations.
