Russell Bills

Russell Bills, 95, formerly of Sorin Street, South Bend, IN, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend. Mr. Bills had been employed with Ridge Company, South Bend; Bendix Corporation during World War II; and then owner and operator of Bills TV Service, specializing in radio and television repair. Mr. Bills was born on June 20, 1906, in St. Joe, IN, as the son of Charles A. and Harriet "Hattie" Ann (Hart) Bills. He moved from Auburn, IN, to Elkhart in 1922, then moved to South Bend in 1941.

On October 30, 1932, in Elkhart, he married Velda Maurine Engel, who passed away on April 14, 1967. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Rider and Mildred Ganger. Mr. Bills is survived by his daughter, Sue Ann Bills of Mishawaka; a sister, Ruth Hollingsworth of Elkhart; nieces and nephews, Kathryn O'Brien, Kent (Peggy) Hollingsworth and Cheryl (Chris) Keitel.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 26, 2001, at Palmer Funeral Homes, Osceola, IN. Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor of Northway Church of Christ, officiated. Burial followed in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, IN. Contributions in memory of Russell Bills may be given to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
