Raymond Bikowski, 77, of South Warren
Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:58 p.m. on Saturday,
March 29, in Hospice House. He was born on Aug. 27, 1925, in
South Bend, to Paul and Lillian (Janowczyk) Bikowski, who
preceded him in death. On July 14, 1999, in South Bend, he
married Charlotte Warniers, who preceded him in death on
July 31, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Frank and Eugene; and by three sisters, Anna Nowacki,
Dorothy Lapp and Alice Discavage. Raymond is survived by a
daughter, Norma (Jerry) Hoffman of South Bend; two sons,
Kevin (Nancy) Bikowski of South Bend and Paul (Mary) Bikowski of
New Carlisle; grandchildren, Lorilynn Bloomer, Lisa Oleksak,
Keith, Blake, Eric, Emily and Amanda Bikowski; and by one
great-grandchild, Erin Oleksak; four stepchildren, Randall
(Roxanne) Warniers of Acton, Mass., Heidi (David) Warniers
Daniels of Orlando, Fla., Robert Warniers of Austin, Texas, and
Kim (Valerie) Warniers of Port Aransas, Texas; two
step-grandchildren, Evan and Brett Warniers; a brother, Stanley
Bikowski of Lakeville, Ind.; and by a sister, Sister Mary
Paulita Bikowski, C.S.S.F., of Livonia, Mich. He retired from
the South Bend Fire Department in 1989 after 42 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific
Theater. Raymond was a member of American Legion Post 357,
Veterans of Foreign Wars 3194, and the West Side Democratic Club.
Visitation will be today, April 1, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 2, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
