SOUTH BEND - Stuart N. Biek, 93, of Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal, formerly of Blaine Avenue, died at 2:50 a.m. today in the nursing home. Mr. Biek retired in 1966 as a machinist at Bendix Corp. after 30 years of service. He was born March 2, 1901, in Dowagiac, and was a lifelong area resident. In 1925, in South Bend, he married Elodie Vlerick. She died Dec. 7, 1973. He is survived by a son, James S. of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Father J.A. Nieuwland Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553, and Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish wake will be at 3:30 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m. by Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553.
