Gene Bidlack, 74, of Piedmont Way, South Bend, Ind., passed at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Gene was born on Nov. 11, 1927, in Mishawaka, Ind., as the son of the late John B. and Jennie (Williams) Bidlack. Gene was also preceded in death by five brothers, Arnold, Gerry, Joe, Donald and Kenneth Bidlack.
On Aug. 1, 1948, in the 1st United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, Ind., he married the former Betty Jimerson, who survives. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty; one daughter, Debbie (Ray) Winey of Mishawaka; one son, Kevin (Diane) Bidlack of Rochester Hills, Mich.; one granddaughter, Maggie Winey of Mishawaka; one sister, Gertrude Broadstreet of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Richard Bidlack of South Bend.
Gene owned and operated Bidlack Construction from 1959-1979 before retiring. In 1980 Gene and Betty began traveling to Fort Myers, Fla., in the winters until 1993. Gene is a 1947 Mishawaka High graduate. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union, Kewana's, LaPaz Lions Club, and was a Mason.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 31, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. David Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The family requests that memorials in Gene's memory be made to the charity of donor's choice.
