MISHAWAKA - Joseph Bickel Sr., about 75, a well known resident of Mishawaka for the past 50 years, died Wednesday afternoon of dropsical aliment, after a two-week' illness. He was born in Baden, Germany in 1842 and came to Mishawaka when he was 25 years old. He married Miss Mariana Zimmerman of Mishawaka on June 28, 1868. He was a carpenter by trade. Besides his widow he is survived by four children; Mrs. Mary Parr, Mrs. George McBride, Joseph and Nicholas, all of Mishawaka; one brother, Nicholas Bickel, also of Mishawaka; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph's Society and the Holy Name Society.
