Mrs. and Mrs. Charles A. Bickel, 234 E.
Edgar Ave., have received word of the death of their son, Chief
Warrant Officer Charles William Bickel, Saturday in San Diego,
Calif.
Warrant Officer Bickel, 46, was born Aug.
18, 1921 in Mishawaka. He married Mary Lou Connors
on Oct. 6, 1942 in South Bend.
Surviving in addition to his wife and
parents are three daughters, Mrs. Russell Almand of
Anaheim, Calif.; Pamela and Deborah at home; a son, Kenneth at
home; a brother, David P. Bickel of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and two
sisters, Mrs. Raymond Ramsey and Mrs. Russell Hoffman,
both of Mishawaka.
Attending the military funeral Tuesday
afternoon in California from Mishawaka will be the parents and
sisters of the deceased. Internment will be Wednesday
morning.
Warrant Officer Bickel served in the United
States Navy for 28 years, and was a member of the F&AM Lodge
130 in Mishawaka. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and
belonged to the Shrine Club in Albuquerque, N.M.

Funeral services were held today in San
Diego, Calif., for Chief Warrant Officer W-4 Charles W. Bickel,
46, a former South Bend resident who died last Saturday in San
Diego after suffering an apparent heart attack. Burial was
in El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego. He was born in
Mishawaka on Aug. 18, 1921, and enlisted in the Navy in 1939.
On Oct. 6, 1942, at South Bend, he married Mary Lou Connors, who
survives. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Bickel of Mishawaka; a son, Kenneth David at home in San
Diego; three daughters, Mrs. Valerie Jeanne Almand of Anaheim,
Calif., and Miss Pamela Jane and Miss Debra Blaine, both at home;
two sisters, Mrs. Elsie J. Ramsey of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Barbara
R. Hoffman of South Bend; and a brother, David P. Bickel of South
Bend.
