Carl Lowell Bice, 77, of Edgar Street, Mishawaka, Ind., died at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in his residence.
He was born in Paulding County, Ohio, on May 13, 1920, to Thomas and Ola (Densel) Bice, who preceded him in death. He had lived in this area for 71 years, coming from Ohio. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
He graduated from Mishawaka High School and retired from Uniroyal after 41 years of service. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force. Carl was an avid bowler and softball player.
Carl married the former Irene Helmlinger on Aug. 21, 1941, in the First Baptist Church of Mishawaka. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Karen (Darrell) Heeter of Mishawaka and Sandra (Tom) Rice of Elkhart, Ind.; six grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Amos, Scott (Sarah) Amos of Elkhart, Shawn Heeter of Mishawaka, Matthew Smith of Indianapolis, Ind., Stacie (Mark) Claffey of South Bend, Ind., and Bethann (Jacob) Stinson of Mishawaka; nine great-grandchildren, Justine, Marisa, Chelsea and Hannah Amos of Elkhart, Jenny and Greg Claffey of Portage, Mich., and Chandler Stinson of Mishawaka, Jesse and Kaitlynn West of Elkhart; two step-grandchildren, Todd and Stephanie Rice of Elkhart; and by a sister, Sylvia Galbreath of Mishawaka.
Memorial services will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, with Michael Salyer officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Mr. Bice bequeathed his body to the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.
