SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Matthew Betz, CSC, 92, of Rosary Hall Convent, Saint Mary's, died at 4:05 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Sister M. Matthew was born Jan. 26, 1904, in Chicago as Margaret Magdalena Betz.

She became a novice on Aug. 15, 1928; and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1930. She was assigned to secondary education and served as principal in elementary and secondary schools, including St. Joseph School, South Bend, and Logansport and Elkhart in Indiana; Evergreen Park, Woodstock and Danville in Illinois; and Flint, Mich. She also served as counselor for the Midwest Secondary Region and at St. Joseph's High School in religion resources and later in secretarial positions in Niles and Saint Mary's Convent. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Muth of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday in the church, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
