John H. Bertman

John H. Bertman, 79, of Prast Blvd. in South Bend, IN, passed away on July 4, 2002, in his home of natural causes. Mr. Bertman was born on January 10, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Adelia Bertman. He retired from the former Bendix Corporation in 1986 after 30 years of service.

On June 2, 1945, John married Esther B. Baranowski, who preceded him in death on January 2, 1998. Surviving are his sons, David J. (Lynn) Bertman of Mishawaka, Phillip J. (Chrislin) Bertman of South Bend; grandchildren, Eric, Aaron and Jessica Bertman; and a brother, Cas Weiss of South Bend. Sisters, Mary Nowicki, Elvina Golichowski and brothers, Eddie and Teddy Bertman preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2002, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Parish Vigil will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Bertman was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and the Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig
