Dennis Joseph Berreth, 59, residing
on Londonberry Lane in South Bend, IN, died of injuries sustained
in an automobile accident on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003. Dennis was
born on March 31, 1944, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Henry J.
and Ruby (Wagner) Berreth. He was a lifelong resident of
the area.
On Oct. 22, 1966, he married Margaret
"Peggy" Nutter, who survives. Along with his
wife, survivors include one son, Jeffrey (Margaret) of Mishawaka;
a daughter, Jennifer (Boyd Frederick) Berreth of Kenosha,
WI; two grandchildren, Shawn and Jenna Berreth, both of
Mishawaka; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Berreth owned and operated his own
business, Berreth Oil, Inc., with his wife for 28 years and sold
this September to enjoy retired life. He served in the United
States Navy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #5570.
His greatest loves were getting away to his cottage and giving
his grandchildren boat rides, working in the yard, visiting with
friends and neighbors, and weekend trips with his wife. He never
met a stranger, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 16, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, where a Rosary was recited at 4 p.m. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 17, in
Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, with cremation to
follow.
